C. Raymond Davis & Sons Awarded 2019 Project of the Year

C. Raymond Davis & Sons received 2019 Project of the Year and two Excellence in Construction Awards in the Associated Builders and Contractors Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter’s 29th Annual Excellence in Construction Awards program.

The Cap and Gown Club of Princeton University - Cox Wing received Best Institutional Project $1-5 Million, as well as 2019 Project of the Year for having the highest score of the entire competition. Designed by Farewell Architects of Princeton, NJ, the one-story addition features an open concept floor plan that serves as a flexible space for club events and students to study and relax.

Six NanaWall glass door systems fold up to transform the space into an open-air pavilion, opening onto new patio areas on the North and South sides of the building. The elegant space also features Bluestone flooring, wood beams, white Beadboard and trim, an acoustical wood slat ceiling, and a custom gas fireplace. The exterior consists of cast stone masonry block, brickwork, and a blue slate roof, all of which complement the red brick of the existing historic club structure.

C. Raymond Davis & Sons also received Best Residential Project $1-5 Million for their work on a private residence in Philadelphia. The project involved completely gutting and renovating the interior of three condominium units in a historic pier building on the waterfront and creating one 6,000 sqft unit. Designed by Heckendorn Shiles Architects, the residence integrates a variety of modern art and contemporary high-end features with industrial design and original historic elements.

The home features a 30‘x 8‘ NanaWall glass door system that lends a spectacular view of the Delaware River and Benjamin Franklin Bridge, a wood wave kitchen ceiling, floating steel staircase, custom chandeliers designed by Warren Muller, and state-of-the-art lighting, shading, and HVAC control systems.

The Excellence in Construction Awards competition is the Associated Builders and Contractors' (ABC) premiere merit shop awards program that highlights outstanding merit construction throughout the region. ABC is a national construction industry trade association representing more than 21,000 chapter members; the Eastern PA Chapter represents over 450 member companies. With these new awards, C. Raymond Davis & Sons has won a total of 94 awards for quality construction since 1994.
